As the wedding season reaches its peak, the focus on skincare and makeup intensifies. This momentous occasion marks a milestone in the lives of the couple, making it essential to capture memories that last a lifetime. Achieving the picture-perfect look hinges on healthy and radiant skin—be it the bride or the groom. To ensure a flawless look and overcome any potential challenges, here are some essential tips for soon-to-be-weds.

THE GROOM EDIT

  • Determine your skin type: Identify if your skin is regular, oily, or dry and tailor your skincare routine accordingly.
  • Basic skincare routine: Start with a good face wash. Use a moisturiser and then a sunscreen to nourish, cleanse, and protect your skin. Use these products consistently for a week to notice improvement in softness and overall skin health.
  • Consult a dermatologist: Visit a dermatologist to establish a simple yet effective skincare regimen tailored to your skin type and goals. Discuss your specific skin concerns such as pigmentation, acne marks, excessive sweating, or back acne.
  • Address specific skin issues: Depending on your skin issues and timeline, work with your dermatologist to create a treatment plan. Options may include creams, lotions, Q-switch laser, peels, or hair reduction methods based on your needs.
Advanced Treatments for Grown Grooms
  • Mature grooms can consider skin tightening and jaw sharpening treatments like Ultherapy for a refined look.
  • Combine with Botox for a narrowed jawline, fillers for well-defined features, and Browtox to relax frown lines.
  • Treatments like acne scar reduction and back acne may require four to six months for optimal results.
Quick Fixes for Special Occasions
  • For quick fixes before events, consider treatments like peels or laser brightening for a refreshed appearance in just an hour and a half.
  • Hydrated skin combined with deep cleansing can provide immediate benefits without downtime.

THE BRIDE EDIT

Good things take time and that’s true for skincare too. The pre-wedding skincare regime begins three to six months in advance.

  • Eat right: Incorporate supplements rich in protein, calcium, iron, vitamin B3, B6, B12, and antioxidants into your daily routine to nourish your skin from within. Additionally, consider supplements containing Vitamin A, C, and E, along with Coenzyme Q10, to boost skin health and resilience.
  • Exercise, skin-telligently: Incorporate a daily workout regime that includes yoga and routine exercises to not only relieve stress but also improve blood circulation, leading to a healthy, radiant complexion. Pair your exercise routine with the right skincare products, such as peels and medi-facials tailored to your skin type.
  • Self-love is supreme: For specific skin concerns like dullness or signs of aging, consider treatments like micro-injections of hyaluronic acid for a youthful glow.
  • Back to basics: If you're planning laser hair removal or other hair treatments, such as Mesotherapy, start them at least six months before the wedding for optimal results.
A few crucial to-dos for the bride with just a month to go for the big day:
  • Eyes right: Combat signs of fatigue by considering under-eye filler for a refreshed appearance and reduced lines.
  • Lips don’t lie: To get an added allure, lip filler can subtly plump the bride’s lips, enhancing your overall facial softness and beauty.
  • Shun the sweaty woes: If you struggle with excessive perspiration or hyperhidrosis, explore Botox injections to avoid unsightly underarm patches and ensure a confident, flawless look on your special day.
When there’s just one week to go, the skincare game needs to be absolutely on point:
  • Don’t experiment: Avoid trying new treatments or products that you haven't used before to prevent unexpected reactions. Stick to mild peels, microdermabrasion, and medi-facials for gentle yet effective skin rejuvenation.
  • Play safe: Consider non-invasive procedures like Botox for eyebrow shaping or filler for non-surgical nose sculpting to enhance your features subtly. Opt for safe laser options like Q switched NdYag for any last-minute skin concerns.
  • Be mindful: Maintain full-body hydration, exfoliation, and sunscreen application for a flawless complexion on your special day.

Quick Tips for our Boss Brides (35 years and above)

Skin Care
  • Incorporate peptides to boost collagen and hydrate your skin, promoting a youthful appearance.
  • Regularly apply the moisturizer to plump your skin and maintain its suppleness.
  • Always apply sunscreen to protect your skin from harmful UV rays and prevent premature aging.
  • Address shadows under the eyes with facial treatments like collagen regeneration, RF/HIFU/Microneedling for open pores, and injectable biostimulators and boosters (hydro and peptides) for hydration and skin rejuvenation before the wedding.
  • Maintain a healthy diet, regular exercise routine, and consider supplements to combat inflammation and oxidative stress for overall skin health.
Hair Care
  • Support your hair care routine with regular hair spa treatments and oiling to nourish and strengthen your hair.
  • Pay attention to your scalp health and address any issues like dandruff or hair treatments if needed, preferably starting six months before the wedding.
Body Skin
  • Moisturise your entire body and don't forget to apply sunscreen to protect your skin from sun damage.
  • Consider body hair reduction methods if desired, such as laser treatments.
  • For stretch marks, microneedling or CO2 lasers can be effective solutions.

CLOSING THE “DISTANCE”: COUPLE EDIT

Preparing for an exotic destination wedding involves more than just choosing the perfect attire; it's also crucial to ensure your skin is ready to withstand the environmental challenges of your chosen location.

  • Pamper your skin: Start by moisturising and hydrating your skin and hair well in advance of your travel plans. Consider coconut oil massages for deep hydration and indulge in hydrating facials or dermal fillers like Juvederm for lasting hydration.
  • Stock supplements: Pack oral supplements rich in vitamins and Omega-3 to maintain skin health during your travels. If heading to a sunny locale, consider a Botox shot for frown lines to prevent sun-induced accentuation.
  • Pack essentials: Carry essential skincare items like face wash, moisturiser, wet wipes, and hand sanitizer. Remember to remove makeup daily and use Botox for underarm sweating in hot climates.
  • Glares are a must: Don't forget protective sunglasses, a spring water mist for refreshing spritzes, and ample sunscreen for seaside weddings.
  • Take season-specific things: For hill stations, prioritize cold creams and lip balms. In humid areas, opt for gentle face washes and anti-bacterial products to combat excess humidity.
  • Take care: Plan your itinerary with rest in mind, stay hydrated, and maintain a balanced diet to support your skin's health during this special celebration.

1. SOS kit

  • Prepare an emergency pack with Calendula or Caladryl mixed with a very mild steroid application for potential breakouts or rashes.
  • For long hours of makeup wear, carry a hydrating mist to stay refreshed.
  • Keep a derma-shield ointment or petroleum jelly handy if you have metal allergies, fabric sensitivities, or if certain jewelry doesn't agree with your skin.

2. Oops Moments

Zit/Pimple
  • Early Morning Zit: Reduce inflammation by applying ice and use a steroidal ointment like Hydrocortisone 1% (with a doctor's prescription or over-the-counter). A small amount will help it settle in a few hours.
  • Night-time Zit: Mix Hydrocortisone with Clindamycin (an antibiotic) to address inflammation and potential pus. Apply warm compression so that it drains out by morning.
Skin Rash
  • Fabric/Jewellery Rash: Take an antihistamine pill for allergies and apply Hydrocortisone cream with Calamine lotion to soothe the rash. Use a barrier cream like Vaseline to prevent direct skin contact.
Swollen Eye
  • Ice the area and use eye movements to help drain excess fluid. Drinking green tea acts as a diuretic to reduce puffiness.
  • For nighttime puffiness, repeat the same steps and sleep with an elevated pillow to encourage fluid drainage.

3. Supplementation

A few supplements to consider along with a balanced diet:

  • Ra Bright
  • Ra Defense
  • Ra Anagen
  • Ra Vitamin C+
